Miss Suraiya Wumpini, known widely in the Ghanaian music industry as Diva One has in her latest interview with Sadik Cybha on the NorthArts program on Sagani TV advised scouts to make talent their prime component when hunting for female musicians to sponsor.
Diva One was on the program to premiere the official music video of “Ayiko” (your grace), her latest music release.
The self-acclaimed dancehall queen of the north, in her conversation indicated that ‘looks’ is mostly prioritized more by many scouts which in her opinion does not help the talented female musicians to grow in the industry.
“…what I have for scouts is to always make talent their outmost quality when searching for a female musician to sponsor and not looks, it is the talent you need to invest in” she said.
In answer to a question by the host which sought to know Diva One’s stand in the common situation around female musicians where sponsors usually demand for sex before they’re sponsored.
She said, “personally, I don’t entertain such people around me…if I find out that your favours come with unusual conditions, I just pull the plugs out without thinking about it”
Diva One has been in the industry for about six years now, serving fans with diverse fusion of sound and music.
