Fuseini Mohammed Nurudeen, a renowned Tamale based Ghanaian comedian and the Lankpalim lead character popularly known as Ashishegu De Comedian on an Interview with Mr Zini on the “Late Night Chat Show” on DagbonFM 102.5MHz revealed that they were charged close to GH₵1,000 by two TV stations in Tamale, including a TV Station still on test transmission. He revealed the said amount was meant for a weak airplay of their kit that was created to help avoid violence in the 2020 general elections.
Speaking on the Late Night Chat Show with Mr Zini, Ashishegu De Comedian explained why there is an extreme fear in Comedians to get closer to presenters for support, unveiling how most industry players shun them and hardly dedicate their programs towards comedians’ wellbeing.
According to the comedian, the major invisible way they can make money for now is through YouTube despite the fact that they are sometimes officially billed to perform on shows/events, making the journey uneasy on their part as most people of the northern regions still find it easy patronizing kits on YouTube.
Moreover, the comedian together with the panel on Late Night Chat Show, Rass Rajah & DJ Shaker all came to same consensus that the Tamale based Comedians find it difficult earning enough views on digital platforms like YouTube due to language barrier, bad video quality and unpleasant production.
