The producer took to his social media handle (Facebook) to educate his colleague producers/beatmakers, musicians and general public about copyrights and licensing in music production.

The Chief Executive Officer of soldier soulz records declared that,an artiste only pays for licence to use the beat and the studio time, artistes does not own copyright to the beat,they only owns the rights to the lyrics.

Below is exactly what he posted;

However,in a private conversation with the “Enjoyment Minister” producer,he stressed that there are instances where an artiste owns the beat. That is exclusive license,but with that,the producer can’t resell the beat because an artiste has purchased the full license of the beat. But producer still owns the copyright.

But there are instances artiste buys exclusive rights to the beat,and with that there are two ways;Selling exclusive rights and Selling exclusive ownership. And under licensing copyright,selling exclusive ownership is not allowed.
